Pro Battery Strap
The first Meta Quest 2 accessory I bought after my headset was a separate battery pack. The Meta Quest headset has about a two-hour battery life. I know that seems like a lot, but those two hours go by fast when you get into a game or play with other people. A battery can double the playing time, giving you the convenience of uninterrupted gaming.
You can use the battery to charge the headset when you are away from an outlet or have the battery pack charging while you play. If there is a power outage or a change to the electrical current, the external battery is cheaper to replace than the headset itself.
Lastly, the battery pack came with a headset strap to replace the original one with the system. The new headset strap had better padding and was easier to adjust. Plus, it rebalanced the headset’s weight, which provided less pressure on my neck and face.
Based on a friend’s recommendation, I chose the BOBOVR M2 and have had nothing but great experiences with it.
Headset Prescription Lenses
The second Meta Quest 2 accessory I bought was a set of prescription lenses for my headset. If you are fortunate enough to have a perfect 20/20 vision, adjusting the built-in lenses should provide all the necessary adjustments. If not, adding prescription lenses can provide the same experience.
Meta Quest includes a spacer to accommodate glasses. But everyone I know who tried using the headset and spacer didn’t like it. Even with the spacer, the headset adds pressure to the glasses, pushing them painfully against the wearer’s nose bridge.
The prescription lenses come in SPH 1.00 through 6. They sit over the existing lenses inside the headset and attach magnetically so they won’t slide around or fall out. You will order each lens individually to get the correct prescription for each eye.
After looking around, we decided to purchase the Amavision Glasses Lens Insert on Amazon, which provided the visual clarity we were looking for.
Meta Quest 2 Charging Dock
The first few months after I bought my headset, it was generally lying on a table charging somewhere with the hand controls nearby. It’s not bad, but it wasn’t very secure and tidy. A charging dock gives the Meta Quest headset a place to live when I’m not using it.
What I didn’t realize was that even though it looked neater, it could also charge the headset and both controllers at the same time. When the controllers arrived with Meta Quest 2, they contained an AA battery. Depending on usage, those can run out every few weeks, generally at the most inconvenient times. The dock came with two rechargeable batteries, and I immediately switched.
The Bioherm Charging Dock for Oculus Quest 2 was the perfect choice for us, and I am very happy to recommend it to you.
Hard Carrying Case
I love sharing virtual reality with friends and family, so I frequently travel with my headset. That’s why having a hard case designed specifically for Meta Quest 2 is so important. Everything has its place, and the cover zips down tight enough to ensure nothing will shake around on the trip.
I specifically wanted a hard case because it provides better protection than fabric cases. And no one wants to wait for a replacement headset if the original gets damaged, right?
My recommendation is the JSVER Hard Case. It has all the features I wanted at a lower price than most competitors
Sweat-Proof Facial Interface
If you use your Meta Quest 2 for an extended period, your face will get warm. The seal around your eyes and the bridge of your nose, meant to keep light in, will also keep heat in. And with heat comes sweat. And no one wants sweat-soaked foam up against their face. Instead, the foam padding is wrapped in PU leather. You can easily wipe off the leather after play with an anti-bacterial wipe.
Not only will your facial interface be cleaner, but the brand I chose also has air vents built into the frame, allowing more air circulation during long periods of use. It is easy to install and snaps right into place.
For an all-around good product and good value, I like the SUPERUS Facial Interface.
